Throughout Scotland, everyone has a right to responsible access to public land, and also to much of the private land. Access is governed by the rules enshrined in the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Loch of Clunie is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
Adjacent to loch, and on the loch itself, there are a number of Scheduled Monuments which are managed by Historic Environment Scotland.
